Bringing a 100 Year Old Basement Up to Speed!
Challenge
This particular job was something that TBF doesn’t have the pleasure of doing often enough - having the opportunity of working with a space that is over 100 years old! There are always some difficulties with remodeling such an old space, but TBF can still accomplish our clients wishes while respecting the craftsmanship of the builders from way back at the same time! This family lives in a two family home and has the first floor and the basement, so it is crucial for them to make the most of their limited available space. Their wish for this project was to have a clean and dry storage space that could also accommodate a second bathroom for the occupants.
Solution
TBF was able to go above and beyond for this family, and created a beautiful space for them to enjoy. It is not only practical but a pleasure to be in. After the remodeling the family now has three different areas in their basement: a workout area, a second bathroom, and a utility area for doing laundry among other things. To finish the basement TBF used Paintable wall panels, gray Elite plank flooring, and a pleasant linen drop ceiling to cap it off. Not only did we create a very clean and safe area for the whole family to use, but it also helps open up the rest of the home. This is a common side effect of finishing a new basement with TBF, and it can do wonders for your home too!
