Turning a Dark Damp Space into the Highlight of the Home
Challenge
This homeowner had a disappointing basement finishing last time around, and we were determined to not let that happen again. After their last basement remodeling, the space was poorly finished, not insulated, and was cold and damp. A very unpleasant space to be in which needed to be demolished and completely redone, and a job perfectly suited for TBF, who only needs one time to get it right. Once we got to work, everything from the last job was torn out, to make way for materials that would remedy the temperature and moisture problems.
Solution
The TBF crew didn’t make the same mistakes that the last team did. This homeowner’s damp, cold, poorly finished space was transformed into a warm, dry, inviting space which not only served its purpose but looked good while doing it. This new basement was the perfect space to relax and entertain friends and family, as well as get a good workout in. New windows took advantage of the natural light and replaced the old ones which were attributing to the lackluster conditions inside. Using Elite plank floors, paintable walls, and a linen drop ceiling, this new basement is a huge improvement not only to the home but to the lives of the residents themselves. Adding a pleasant basement setting serves to open up the rest of the house, and this project is a great example of this.
