A Basement With a Sauna
Challenge
A couple has lived in their home in Lexington, Massachusetts, for over twenty years. Now that their children are grown up and mostly out of the house, and because they work from home, they would like to create more space in their basement to entertain and work out. Ultimately, they would like us to create three spaces: a workout area, a game room, and a sauna. The inclusion of the sauna will make the project a bit more complex than the average job.
Solution
To begin the process, we used our vinyl wall system and linen ceiling tiles throughout the entire basement. Next, we added baseboard heating, recessed can lighting, and the necessary power for the sauna in the form of a 220 outlet. For the flooring, we used Thermal Dry Elite Plank in Espresso. Finally, we added a new SaniDry XP system to reduce the overall basement humidity. The homeowners asked great questions throughout the process, which helped us create the best possible space for them. They are thrilled with the results.
