Challenge
A young couple in Boxborough, Massachusetts, was referred to us by friends a few towns over in Westford. We had finished their friend's project last year, which they had visited before. They were looking to finish their own basement and asked who did their work.
For their own basement, they would like about 1000 sq ft. of their basement finished to be made into a bathroom and bar sink. The home is very new, and their walls have already been roughly finished, so we will not paint them. They have an existing masonry fireplace, which they would like to make changes to fit into their fully finished space.
Solution
We began by adding our 2 X 2-foot ceiling tiles to the ceiling. For the existing masonry fireplace, we tiled the brick and added a granite remnant for the mantle. The fireplace hadn’t been used previously, so we had the plumber turn it on and connect the gas when he came in. We used our floor tiles and added a matching carpet runner for the stairs leading to the basement. This resulted in a cohesive space to be used as an office, family room, and second bathroom for the house.
