A Playroom to Provide Peace and Quiet
Challenge
Challenge: A couple with two young boys lives in a house in Boxford, Massachusetts. They both have full-time jobs and when they get home in the evening, they want a peaceful environment. Their children currently play on the main floor of the house, which is anything but quiet. They have a large basement, but it’s unfinished and unsafe for young kids to play.
Solution
Solution: The couple decided to finish their basement as a large playroom for their kids. We rearranged some of their flexible duct lines and installed a hard ceiling to give them greater ceiling height. We finished their staircase with oak and pine risers and installed a dark walnut Elite Plank floor. We established our paintable wall system so they could make the space more inviting to the children. We also installed three closets to store the items previously kept in the unfinished basement. The result was a gorgeous, finished playroom with ample space for the kids that would give their parents some much-needed quiet after a long day of work.
