Basement Tips: Lighting. Turning Dim and Dingy into Warm and Inviting!
When lighting your basement there are some crucial things that every home owner shold keep in mind in order to evade the dungeon look:
- When planning your space, put the main socializing area in the place with the most natural light. Light draws people in.
- A TV viewing area can be a bit dimmer because it gives the area a home-theater feel. Thick, light blocking curtains can be great for rainy day movie marathons!
- If you need a partition in your basement, consider adding half walls or window cut outs to let in more natural light.
- Include egress windows! They are necessary for both safety and aesthetic appeal
- Don’t skimp on lighting! Basements that look dim are very depressing, so brighten up the space with both floor lamps and plenty of overhead lighting.
- Using lighter paint colors will brighten up your space, no lighting required!
