Transforming a Musty Basement into a Marvelous Gym
Challenge
Challenge: A couple in Carlisle, Massachusetts have two children and a nice home. The house itself is wonderful, but their unfinished basement has a musty smell. This is especially concerning as they have a gym in the basement that they workout in regularly. Their family could also use an update in their existing half bathroom. For their basement to be finished properly with everything they want, a lot of work will have to be done.
Solution
Solution: We started with the most pressing issue, and installed an ERV system to get fresh air into the basement and avoid further mildew from forming. We then expanded the half bath to add a gorgeous tiled shower with glass doors. This involved changing the plumbing to account for the shower. We added a hard ceiling to the rest of the basement, as well as flooring and baseboard, to make a suitable space for a gym. This resulted in a beautiful full bathroom and a large gym space that was clean and dry.
