A Finished Basement With a Surplus of Storage
Challenge
Challenge: A woman with a house in Wayland Massachusetts has young kids, and a vision for her home. With her basement unfinished, she has plenty of storage space, but it isn’t functional. Her heater is in the middle of her basement, and she has unpainted metal shelving covering half of the walls. What she wants is a space that looks like anything but a basement.
Solution
Solution: With three full-sized existing windows in the basement, the lighting was perfect for a large living area, as well as storage. We made an area for storage under the stairs as well as put in cubbies for her children. We created a room for heating to hide it from sight, gave her a white painted wall system, and replaced her windows with EverLast windows to encourage more light to enter the space. This created the living space she wanted without compromising her storage space.
